Parent Class Schedules
Wondering Why You Have to Take a Class even though you have your license? So the answer is this...As part of the Massachusetts Driver’s Education program, a Parent Class is required for all students under 18. The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) mandates that a parent or guardian of the student must complete this class before the student can apply for a Junior Operator License (JOL). The Parent Class covers essential topics such as the role of parents in teen driver safety, effective communication strategies, and Massachusetts driving laws. It also emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries and monitoring teen driving behavior. Key elements include: •Understanding Massachusetts' Graduated Driver License (GDL) laws •The dangers of distracted driving •How to supervise and guide your teen as a new driver •Tips for promoting safe driving habits •Consequences of violations related to the JOL program The class is typically 2 hours long and is given online. To comply with RMV requirements, parents or guardians must complete the course before their teen can begin taking Behind The Wheel Lessons.
